Half Day Tour – Jerusalem New City – Jewish Emphasis

Begin the day with a drive through the heart of Western Jerusalem where you will see the Knesset (Israel’s parliament), the Supreme Court, the offices of the various government ministries, the Israel Museum with the Shrine of the Book and the Hebrew University at Givat Ram. Visit the world-famous Chagall Windows at the Hadassah Hospital synagogue in Ein Kerem. After that, take a walk on Mt. Herzl to see the tombs of Theodore Herzl, Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir and others. Drive past the Mahane Yehuda market to the Street of the Prophets. Walk along Ethiopia St. and see the house where Eliezer Ben Yehuda, the “father of modern Hebrew” lived and continue on to the old-world setting of Mea Shearim.

Half-Day Tour – Jerusalem New City – Christian Emphasis

Start the tour with a visit to the charming village of Ein Kerem, the birthplace of St. John the Baptist. Visit the Church of St. John and the Virgin’s Well. Drive to the 11th century Georgian Monastery of the Cross in the Valley of the Cross just below the Knesset and the Israel Museum. Continue on to the Street of the Prophets where we will walk past the historic Tabor House and down Ethiopia Street to see the unusual Ethiopian Orthodox Church in the round. From there, we cross over to the Russian Compound with its famous pilgrim facilities and cathedral. End by driving past what is called “the most beautiful YMCA in the world”, just across from the famous King David Hotel.

Half-Day Jerusalem Old City – Catholic/Orthodox Emphasis

Begin by driving to the top of the Mount of Olives for a spectacular view of Jerusalem’s Old City and the Kidron Valley. From this vantage point, the Temple Mount with its golden Dome of the Rock dominates our view. It was on this spot that the Second Temple stood during the time of Jesus. Our next stop is the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. We enter the Old City via St. Stephen’s Gate and come soon to the first of the Stations of the Cross on the Via Dolorosa. We trace the footsteps of Jesus through the all the way to the Holy Sepulcher Church, the spot on which Jesus was crucified, buried and rose from the dead. After our visit, we exit the Old City and return to our hotel.
